Construction of the brand new Sant’Anna hospital in Como is about to be completed. Thanks to the characteristics of this facility, it is destined to become the point of reference for treating oncological diseases in the whole of Northern Italy.

The new hospital, which has five floors and spans a total surface area of 220,000 m2, provides 589 beds, 46 specialist surgeries, 15 operating theatres, and the entire facility was built in less than three years. These record-breaking figures speak for themselves, but the most important thing is that this ultra modern facility, equipped with the most advanced biomedical technologies and cutting-edge machinery, offers patients a new healthcare model. In addition to offering welcoming and comfortable amenities, which blend in seamlessly with their surroundings, the activities are organised according to the new model of treatment intensity, and no longer on specialist departments, focusing on the patient and on his or her treatment needs.
In addition, the hospital will be conducting healthcare culture research and development activities and will also be supporting constant training and refresher programmes.

The task of automating the entrances to the operating theatres used for different specialities was awarded to DITEC, which, on this occasion, offered the most technologically advanced solution, offering an absolute novelty in the sector of automatic pedestrian hospital doors. 15 VALOR H automatic pedestrian hospital doors were installed, the latest new product for 2010 in the DITEC range, designed for controlled atmosphere environments, offering an especially appropriate solution in this type of facility where specific characteristics are indispensable.

Automating the doors to an operating theatre is not only advisable, but absolutely fundamental, because it is a known fact that in certain emergency situations, even a few seconds are as precious as gold, and in such delicate contexts, it is necessary to have the best technologies available to allow passage in the utmost safety, efficiency and hygiene.
