28/06/2010 | DITEC automatic doors on top of the world

In the foothills of the Monte Rosa glacier, DITEC has automated entry to the new Frachey – Alpe Ciarcerio Alps funicular in the province of Aosta.

Among the magnificent peaks and slopes of the Val d’Ayas there is a slice of paradise, full of ski runs in the winter and surrounded by lush pine and tamarack forests in the summer -- a beautiful, sun-kissed area. This is Champoluc, the most important location in Val d’Ayas, a renowned site for all those who love mountains, skiing and nature.

Monterosa Ski, the company that manages the ski-lift system, recently inaugurated the new Frachey-Alpe Ciarcerio Alps system, the first funicular in the Val D’Aosta installed especially for skiers, and the feather in the cap of the one of the largest ski areas in the Alps.

The Frachey-Ciarcerio Alps funicular connects Frachey (1,617 meters above sea level) with Alpe Ciarcerio (1,981) and replaced the old structure built in 1978. This system can transport up to 1,500 people per hour thanks to the two cars, each one holding 110 people.

The new system represents an innovation – a decision to move forward from the traditional cable system. For this reason, the designers insisted that the safety technology also needed to be cutting edge. This led to the installation of automatic doors on the platform, which remain closed while passengers wait and automatically open only after the cars have arrived and come to a complete stop. This means that the danger of guests falling onto the tracks is effectively eliminated.
The decision to select Valor for the automatic doors occurred not only due to the product’s advanced technology and excellent reliability, but also for the DITEC’s experience, including automation of the doors on the funicular cars of Naples Mergellina.

Four DITEC automatic doors have already been installed at the departure station at the base station in Frachey, as well as at the arrival station in Alpe Ciarcerio, located at almost 2,000 meters above sea level! A total of 22 DITEC Valor automatic doors have been installed on the platforms, allowing the thousands of skiers who flock to the area during the winter to easily and safely access the funicular.

Performance, reliability, and technology – even at extremely low temperatures - are the characteristics that distinguish Valor automatic pedestrian doors. In a situation that involves intense and constant use, DITEC automatic doors safely welcome the masses of skiers who come to Monte Rosa, impeccably controlling both entry and exit traffic to and from the funicular cars.
DITEC’s automation technologies are the perfect solution for any context and respect even the most severe norms in existence. In fact, all DITEC automatic doors are TUV certified, a guarantee of the utmost reliability.

And thanks to the high quality materials used, DITEC automatic doors are also weather resistant and minimize energy consumption. In addition to low consumption, DITEC automatic doors also offer excellent thermal insulation, a fundamental consideration in severe climates such as those of the peaks of the Val d’Ayas, where the temperatures leave your teeth chattering – in fact, in winter the temperature can go as low as -20°C!

Yet again, DITEC has demonstrated the ability to install its products in an area where its competitors are not capable of operating, facing all the associated environmental and climactic problems with aplomb.
DITEC’s success is guaranteed by the versatility of its products, which provide excellent performance regardless of the context and type of installation.
DITEC: number one in automatic entry systems... even at the top of the world!
