25/05/2010 | Sectional garage doors and automations for automatic gates for a special use, on television!

Interview with a DITEC official

DITEC is a world-scale manufacturer of automatic gates, automatic pedestrian doors and sectional garage doors.
It distributes its products thanks to ongoing collaboration with a widespread network of installers who usually promote DITEC automatic entrances by taking part in trade fairs or special local events.
During the last edition of the Bergamo trade fair, the editorial office of the Bergamo TV broadcasting company interviewed Giorgio Pons, general manager of the DITEC branch in Lombardy.
Giorgio presented two major new DITEC products displayed in the booth of one of our local retailers, Nova System di Augusto Morotti.

“We are presenting an absolute novelty called Movida”, Giorgio stated. “It is a sectional garage door which breaks away from the past and the old technical solutions used up until now.

The Movida sectional door exploits the verticality of its movement.
Unlike traditional tilting sheet metal doors, it does not protrude from the external edge of the wall. This type of door slides upwards and then all along the ceiling.
This way, the car can even be parked right behind the garage door, and users can easily get into and out of garages which open straight onto the road or pavement.
The door panels are made of sheet steel and are filled with polyurethane foams to enhance the garage insulation. That’s another advantage over traditional doors.

In addition to the insulation, Movida sectional doors boast a significant benefit.
The automation controlling it is not secured to the door, as in tilting doors, or onto the ceiling.
Instead, it is fitted on the side sliding runners. This saves you space on either side and on the ceiling. Even MPVs, jeeps or SUVs which have high roofs can be parked effortlessly in garages fitted with Movida doors”.

So is it worthwhile to choose the Movida sectional door?

“It’s definitely different from traditional solutions and quite a break from the past. We mustn’t forget another peculiar feature: the absence of compensation springs, at the top, which are unsightly and require rather expensive annual maintenance work.
DITEC has developed an automatic door which is balanced by extension springs at the top, on the sides and closed away in a thin casing. So they are concealed from sight, they do not get dirty and require no special maintenance.”

In addition to Movida, as Pons continues, DITEC is also presenting another very important new product.

“Another new product which has a social use is the automatic step designed for all those instances where access to public premises, hotels, shops and the like, needs to be facilitated for disabled users.”

This special “automatic step” was designed and patented by one of our retailers in the Veneto region, Sikura Service.

It looks like a normal step, with 2 or 3 levels, coverable with any material to fit in with the existing access stairways.
Thanks to the incorporation of certain mechanical transmission components, controlled by the DITEC Cubic 6 automation, it can be transformed into a genuine ramp for disabled access.

Cubic 6 was conceived as an automation for automatic swing gates operating at a low voltage of 24 V. It was therefore designed to operate underground, where the physical conditions were not favourable. It has demonstrated itself to be both valid and reliable as well as safe in this special application.
